Manga creator Maybe is having a good run here as after their work Dusk Maiden of Amnesia was made into an anime back in 2012, their next project is now lined up as well with To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts. As progress continues, the official site has now updated with two new cast additions and a look at their character designs. We also get some progress update via Tweet with the scripts as they’re coming along and are “crazy” while also showing off some of the storyboard progress. The anime adaptation is set for 2019 with Jun Shishido directing based on the scripts by Shigeru Murakoshi. Daisuke Niinuma is handling the character designs with MAPPA handling the animation production.

The newly added cast includes:

  • Kaito Ishikawa as Claude
  • Yōko Hikasa as Liza

The previously announced Japanese cast includes:

  • Katsuyuki Konishi as Hank
  • Ai Kakuma as Nancy Schaal Bancroft
  • Yūichi Nakamura as Cain
  • Mamiko Noto as Elaine

The series began in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine during the summer of 2014 and it has nine volumes out so far as of this week. It’s released in English through Vertical Comics.

Plot Concept: During a protracted civil war that pitted the North against the South, the outnumbered Northerners used dark magic to create monstrous super-soldiers called Incarnates. Now that the war has ended, those Sacred Beasts must learn to make their way in a peaceful society or face death at the hands of a Beast Hunter. Nancy Schaal Bancroft, the daughter of an Incarnate, turns to hunt the hunter herself. But once she catches up with her quarry, she discovers hard truths about the lives of these Sacred Beasts.
