The winter 2018 anime series Soul Hunter, aka Hakyu Hoshin Engi, is getting its home video release handled by Funimation and the release was recently set. The show is scheduled for an April 30th, 2019 debut and we now have the first preorder trailer for it. It highlights the dub cast for it as it contains the full twenty-three episode series in both Japanese and English spread across three discs. It lists 34 minutes of extras and a Digital Copy as well. The extras on-disc include the OVA, promos, commercials, and the clean opening and closing sequences.

The show has Katsuki Aizara as the director working from the series composition by Natsuko Takahashi. Yoshimitsu Yamashita is handling the character designs with C-Station working the animation.

The Japanese cast includes Kensho Ono as Taikoubou, Tomoaki Maeno as Bunchuu, Takahiro Sakurai as Sibuxiang, Makoto Furukawa as Nataku, Yuuichi Nakamura as Youzen, KENN as Kou Tenka, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Hiko Kou, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shinjin Fugen, Kousuke Toriumi as Shinkouhyou, Yoko Hikasa as Dakki, Daisuke Namikawa as Chuuou, and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Tenkun Ou.

Tyler Walker is serving as the ADR director for it with Blair Rowan handling the scripts for the series. The English cast includes J. Michael Tatum as Bunchu, Luke Longacre as Chu, Alexis Tipton as Dakki, Aaron Dismuke as Fugen, Charlie Campbell as Genshi, Anthony Bowling as Hakutsuru, Brad Hawkins as Hiko, Mike McFarland as Kokukirin, Joel McDonald as Kokutenko, Kyle Igneczi as Shinkohyo, Tyler Walker as Supushan, and Josh Grelle as Taikobo.

This is intended to reboot it with a new cast and start from the beginning once again. The manga originally ran back from 1996 to 2000 for twenty-three volumes, which Viz Media released in full here. The anime adaptation under Soul Hunter came out in 1999 that was originally licensed and released by ADV Films. Discotek Media is the current license holder for that twenty-six episode series.

Plot Concept: When his clan is wiped out by a beautiful demon, young Taikobo finds himself in charge of the mysterious Hoshin Project. Its mission: find all immortals living in the human world and seal them away forever. But who do you trust–and whose side are you really on–when you’ve been trained to hunt demons by a demon?
