Last year we had a whole lot of fun with the first season of the Freeform TV series adaptation of Cloak & Dagger. While it has some of the inherent issues that seem to be the same across all Marvel TV drama properties in terms of pacing and lack of feeling like it accomplishes things, it was one of the stronger offerings in my mind and it was welcome to get away from the whole New York side and focus on young characters. The second season is coming up on April 4th, 2019 and Freeform has now dropped their first full-length trailer for it that definitely ups the excitement in bringing these characters to life.
The cast includes Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen / Dagger, Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson / Cloak, Andrea Roth as Melissa Bowen, Gloria Reuben as Adina Johnson, Miles Mussenden as Michael Johnson, Carl Lundstedt as Liam, James Saito as Bernard Sanjo, and J.D. Evermore as Connors.
Plot concept: Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger follows the interracial romance between Tandy Bowen (Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Joseph), two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart — but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
