The AsianCrush channel has picked up another series for distribution through their Amazon channel with the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz anime series. Originally airing back in 1986, it ran for 52 episodes and is now available on Amazon in its English dubbed form. Discotek Media picked p the rights to it back in the summer of 2017 but hasn’t done too much with the property. You can see the original version of the first episode below.

The first 41 episodes were directed by Masaru Tonogouchi with the remainder by Hiroshi Saito. Based on the original work by L. Frank Baum, the character designs were done by Shuichi Seki and Panmedia handling the animation production.

Plot Concept: A young girl named Dorothy has gone to live with her grandparents on their small farm. One day when Dorothy is left alone in the house a tornado appears. Dorothy fails to get to the basement in time, and the entire house is picked up and transported to a magical land, falling on and killing a wicked witch. There she is informed by a good witch that she must travel to the Capital of Emerald and meet a great magician who may be able to help her find a way home. Along the way she makes some incredible friends and sees many strange and fantastic things.
