Funimation Schedules ‘Meiji Tokyo Renka’ Anime Simuldub

The winter 2019 anime series Meiji Tokyo Renka is getting a bit of an expansion as Funimation has added it to their overall lineup for the season. The streaming side of the company has brought out the first two episodes in dubbed form while two more will arrive next week on Wednesday. Additionally, subtitled episodes will begin on February 13th, 2019 as well. Unfortunately, no dub cast has been listed for it yet.

The series was directed by Akitarou Daichi with Junko Yamanaka serving as the character designer and chief animation director. TMS Entertainment handled the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Sumire Morohoshi as Mei Ayazuki, Daisuke Namikawa as Ōgai Mori, KENN as Shunsō Hishida, Kousuke Toriumi as Otojirō Kawakami, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kyōka Izumi, Jun Fukuyama as Gorō Fujita, Shinnosuke Tachibana as Yakumo Koizumi, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Tōsuke Iwasaki, and Toshiyuki Morikawa as Charlie.

The film, based on the game, was directed by Hiroshi Watanabe with Yukiko Uozumi as the co-director. They worked off of the script from Yoshiko Nakamura and character designs from Karu were adapted by Akio Hirakawa.

With the help of seven historical—and handsome—men, she’ll learn about her new abilities all while falling in love! But will she return home, or will her heart keep her in the past?
