It was revealed back in March that the anime adaptation of the Vinland Saga manga from Makoto Yukimura is in production from WIT Studio. With plans for a 2019 debut so far, the official site has now updated with a lot of new things. First, we get a brief but very tantalizing promotional video for the show, our first look at it, and a new key visual as well that’s just beautiful. We also have the main cast and you can see their designs below along with the voice actor pictures. The main cast includes Shizuka Ishigami as Thorfinn as a child, Yūto Uemura as Thorfinn, and Kenichirou Matsuda as Thors.
The series has Shuhei Yabuta directing based on the series composition from Hiroshi Seko and Kenta Ihara. Animated at Wit Studio, Takahiko Abiru is handling the character designs for it.
The manga has seen release in North America through Kodansha Comics, which has struggled in the omnibus hardcover format they were putting it out in to ensure it had a prestige feeling about it, but this is an adaptation that could really give it a huge and worthy boost. The manga has over five million copies in print across the twenty volumes released so far in Japan.
