The times are always changing and it’s getting harder and harder to survive out there in this online world as an independent site. With advertising drying up significantly, lots of sites laying off people entirely, it’s more critical than ever to support the places that you want to see survive, which we hope includes ours.
We’re in our 21st year of operation over a couple of different forms. We’ve got the longevity, the knowledge, the interactions, and the passion for this. And we need your support in order to continue to do this.
We’ve partnered up with Patreon to try running this form in order to allow people to support in whatever way they can and to provide some reward tiers in it. For me, this was a chance to go back to some of the older ways that I know a lot of us have enjoyed over the years. With the social media spread over the years, one of our main rewards is access to a Discord server we’ve set up for use for patreons only. This is, essentially, bringing back to life our old IRC channel that served us well for many years.
The social media world is a sprawling one and it’s hard to keep up on so many services which results in it not being as personal as it can be.
