Dark Horse Comics Acquires ‘Space Battleship Yamato 2199’ Manga

Aliens from the planet Gamilas have devastated the biosphere, determined to reshape our planet into their new home. But an emissary from the distant Iscandar has given humanity the means to defeat them.

Some great news has landed from Crunchyroll today with the reveal that Dark Horse Comics has picked up the rights to bring out the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 manga in English. The publisher is set to bring out the first volume on July 31st, 2199. The manga is done by Michio Murakawa and the adaptation has Zack Davisson handling the adaptation with Tim Eldred providing afterword material for it. These are being done as double-sized works with two Japanese volumes in each edition.

Plot Concept: Aliens from the planet Gamilas have devastated the biosphere, determined to reshape our planet into their new home. But an emissary from the distant Iscandar has given humanity the means to defeat them. If the crew of the Yamato can battle its way through the Gamilas fleet to reach Iscandar, their technology can heal the Earth—but the odds against them are literally astronomical…
