‘Back Street Girls’ Getting Live-Action TV Series

With a summer 2018 anime series Back Street Girls and a live-action feature film coming up with its February 8th, 2018 debut, a little more has surfaced for the property.

With a summer 2018 anime series Back Street Girls and a live-action feature film coming up with its February 8th, 2018 debut, a little more has surfaced for the property. A live-action TV series is going to air beginning on February 17th, 2019 and it looks like it’s bringing back some of those involved with the film, such as the director. The show is set for six episodes. The film and TV series are being directed by Keinosuke Hara.

The Japanese cast for it includes The film will star Jin Shirasu, Reiya Masaki, Masato Hanazawa, Natsumi Okamoto, Ruka Matsuda, Akane Sakanoue, Tetsuya Sugaya, Nana Asakawa, Hitoshi Ozawa, Dori Sakurada, Ren Osugi, and Kouichi Iwaki.

The original manga from Jasmine Gyuh ended in Weekly Young Magazine back on September 15th, 2018 with twelve volumes published.

The anime TV series has Chiako Kon directing based on the series composition by Susumu Yamakawa. JC Staff was on board to produce the animation.

The Japanese cast for the anime included Daisuke Ono as Kentarō Yamamoto, Yuka Nukui as Airi Yamamoto, Satoshi Hino as Ryū Tachibana, Kaori Maeda as Mari Tachibana, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Kazuhiko Sugihara, Hikaru Akao as Chika Sugihara, Keiji Fujiwara as Inugane Boss/Inugane Producer, Junichi Suwabe as Mandarin Kinoshita, Yasuhiro Mamiya as Kōji Nagata, and Natsuki Hanae as Kimura.

Plot Concept: A group of 3 yakuza failed their boss for the last time. After messing up an important job, the boss gives them 2 choices: Honorably committing suicide, or go to Thailand to get a sex reassignment surgery in order to become “female” idols. After a gruesome year-long training to become idols, they successfully debut, with overwhelming popularity, much to their dismay. This is where their tragedy truly begins.
