TOHO is handling the home video release of My Hero Academia the Movie: The Two Heroes and they’ve set a February 13th, 2019 release date for the project and some new details have surfaced for it. We knew there was going to be a bonus short in it with All Might: Rising the Animation and we now get a brief sliver of a look at it through the promo below for the overall release. It’s set to come in four different editions that will likely move some big numbers when it hits that include:
- BD LE: 7,800yen
- BD Reg: 4,800yen
- DVD LE: 6,800yen
- DVD Reg: 3,800yen
The limited editions come with a booklet and postcard with a bonus disc. The bonus disc has a new picture drama, the Anime Expo 2018 world premiere featuring both the English and Japanese cast, a preview screening, a stage greeting, and a special program put out ahead of the films release.
The project is an original story that takes place after the Final Exam arc that’s supervised by original creator Kouhei Horikoshi as it focuses on the Class A characters and delves into material from there. Kenji Nagasaki is the director working from the screenplay by Yousuke Kuroda. Yoshihiko Umakoshi is on board as the character designer and chief animation director with it being produced at BONES.
The Japanese cast includes Daiki Yamashita as Izuku, Kenta Miyake as All Might, Ayane Sakura as Ochako Uraraka, Kaito Ishikawa as Tenya Iida, Aoi Yuki as Tsuyu Asui, Ryou Hirohashi as Minoru Mineta, Marina Inoue as Momo Yaoyorozu, Yoshimasa Hosoya, Yuuki Kaji as Shoto Todoroki, Eri Kitamura as Mina Ashido, Kōsuke Kuwano as Yūga Aoyama, Kei Shindou as Kyōka Jirō, Masakazu Nishida as Mezō Shōji, Saki Ogasawara as Itsuka Kendou, Kouji Okino as Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu and Azu Sakura as Mei Hatsume.
Originally starting back in the summer of 2014, after creator Kouhei Horikoshi’s Barrage series ended, My Hero Academia is one of the more well-received books in the English edition of Weekly Shonen Jump.
Plot Concept: What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested superpowers called “Quirks”? Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Being a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study? The Hero Academy of course! But what would you do if you were one of the 20 percent who were born Quirkless? Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny.
