There are a whole lot of returning shows... What are you watching?
via Netflix

After getting a couple of weeks of downtime over the holiday’s that let me burn through a dozen or so Parts Unknown episodes, the networks are bringing back their shows and some winter debuts are arriving, making for a busy time. To get myself into the right mindset, I checked out the Netflix run of Tidying Up With Marie Kondo. The season had eight episodes as she and her translator (who really deserves a bonus based on what I’ve read about how she handles things) go into people’s home to help them declutter and change their lifestyle. It’s pretty solid overall if you’ve never gone through something like this and I enjoyed it just in seeing what people had problems with. What it reminded me of was something that several years ago helped me shift gears into my own decluttering with a minimalist home style approach:

I’d been living that lifestyle, or pursuing it, for a few years before that but it was a way to really make it clear to folks who weren’t sure what I was talking about. It’s also a big reason towards the digital push in order to have fewer things around and easier to access what I do want.

This week had the usual fun in my mainstays of Property Brothers and Love It or List It on HGTV while also adding the Windy City Rehab, which dealt with a massive Chicago home that was split into four rentals being updated. I loved seeing the visual design and approach of it all.

This week also had me enjoying the debut of the latest season of How the Universe Works, which went into material on the exploration of Pluto and more in the outer system with all the attention recently focused on Ultima Thule.

Comedies made up most of my week, which makes it easy to drop in for a few laughs. The second season of I’m Sorry got off to a fun start in watching parents deal with the difficult child that they’ve raised, essentially saying “that was cute until she reached this age. oh crap.” I also got into the first episode of the final season of You’re the Worst and I’m hopeful that Falk can nail the landing on this season after a fourth season that was problematic at best.

My youngest and I got back on track with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and burned through four more episodes, though we still have the final four to go. I adore this show completely.

Sitcoms also had the debut of Schooled!, which has potential as I like the cast and a shift to the ’90s for some of the Goldbergs characters. The return of Brooklyn 99 was okay and I’m used to season premieres not being their best. The plus side is that it was a ratings bonanza for NBC, justifying their rescue of it. The Good Place really made me grin even as we’re two episodes away from the finale and I had fun with things like Modern Family and Big Bang Theory as comfortable friends.
