Second ‘Renai Bakumatsu Kareshi’ Anime Cour Scheduled

The fall 2018 anime adaptation of the mobile game Renai Bakumatsu Kareshi: Toki no Kanata de Hanasaku Koi is getting a second cour now that the first one has wrapped up. The end of the season last night revealed that a second season is coming with plans for it to air in 2019. No date was set for it and we expect Crunchyroll will stream it like they did the first, but we’ll hazard it as a part of the spring season.

The show was directed by Masaki Watanabe with series composition by Masahiro Yokotani. Hidekazu Shimamura adapted the character designs by Natsuo while Studio Deen handled the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Yūichi Nakamura as Takasugi Shinsaku, Takuya Eguchi as Katsura Kogorō, Shinichiro Miki as Sakamoto Ryōma, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Okada Izō, Toshiyuki Someya as Hijikata Toshizō, Takuya Satō as Kondō Isami, Tsubasa Yonaga as Okita Sōji, Keita Tada as Saitō Hajime, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Tokugawa Shinobu, Taku Yashiro as Yamazaki Susumu, Shunsuke Takeuchi as the Emperor, Yoshiki Nakajima as Seimei, Hiroyuki Kinoshita as Mugensai, Fuyuka Ono, Kei Shindou as Kasumi, Nanami Yamashita as Hyō, and Wataru Hatano as Yoshida Shōin.

Plot Concept: Kyoto, Japan. The heroine meets a man who gives her a pocket watch somehow leading to a Torii in a shrine, and suddenly it warps her into the Bakumatsu period. In the world of where there is such a difference in importance of value, she tries to find a way to go back. When she meets a man who has crossed time and says, “I will live for you,” a love story between the two blossoms.
