One area where anime has been interesting in a limited kind of way is with the Anime Beans app that Production I.G. is involved with. It’s designed for mobile devices as it’s available through iOS and Android stores where the anime is short-form and formatted for those devices – hence the visual to the right being thinner and taller. The apps are now being made available worldwide outside of China now with ten titles being given English subtitles:

  1. Caramel Honey (based on Takuhei’s manga of the same name)
  2. Monkey Peak (based on Kōji Shinasaka and Akihiro Kumeta’s manga of the same name)
  3. Office Lover 2 (based on OKKO’s Yūwaku Office Lover2 game)
  4. Would You Like Some Coffee? (based on Misato Konari’s Coffee Ikaga Deshō manga)
  5. Kuruneko (based on Yamato Kuruneko’s cat manga blog)
  6. Open Shut Them (based on Mayu Minase’s Musunde Hiraite manga)
  7. Karada Sagashi (based on Katsutoshi Murase’s manga of the same name)
  8. PRECARIOUS WOMAN EXECUTIVE MISS BLACK GENERAL (based on jin’s Zannen Onna Kanbu Black General-san manga)
  9. Gift± (based on Yuka Nagate’s Gift Plus Minus manga)
  10. Situation Movie Kento Itō 1 (Bushitsu Date-hen live-action “situation movie”)

The service has been running for awhile and there are almost 300 programs on it, the bulk of them being anime ones. More shows are slotted for English subtitles as time goes on and we’re waiting to see if new series launch with English subtitles going forward.
