‘Back Street Girls’ Live-Action Film Reveals New Trailer

While the summer 2018 anime series Back Street Girls didn’t quite cause as much controversy as some were expecting, particularly since it didn’t land on a main streaming service for anime fans, it’s got the potential for controversy once again. After previously bringing out a trailer for the project, a new one has landed that gives us a bigger look at the film and what they’re doing ahead of its February 8th, 2018 debut. The film is being directed by Keinosuke Hara and a trailer and poster have been revealed for it.

The Japanese cast for it includes The film will star Jin Shirasu, Reiya Masaki, Masato Hanazawa, Natsumi Okamoto, Ruka Matsuda, Akane Sakanoue, Tetsuya Sugaya, Nana Asakawa, Hitoshi Ozawa, Dori Sakurada, Ren Osugi, and Kouichi Iwaki.

The original manga from Jasmine Gyuh ended in Weekly Young Magazine back on September 15th, 2018. It has eleven compiled volumes so far and the twelfth and final will be scheduled for later this year.

The anime TV series has Chiako Kon directing it based on the series composition by Susumu Yamakawa. JC Staff was on board to produce the animation.

The Japanese cast for the anime included Daisuke Ono as Kentarō Yamamoto, Yuka Nukui as Airi Yamamoto, Satoshi Hino as Ryū Tachibana, Kaori Maeda as Mari Tachibana, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Kazuhiko Sugihara, Hikaru Akao as Chika Sugihara, Keiji Fujiwara as Inugane Boss/Inugane Producer, Junichi Suwabe as Mandarin Kinoshita, Yasuhiro Mamiya as Kōji Nagata, and Natsuki Hanae as Kimura.

Plot Concept: A group of 3 yakuza failed their boss for the last time. After messing up an important job, the boss gives them 2 choices: Honorably committing suicide, or go to Thailand to get a sex reassignment surgery in order to become “female” idols. After a gruesome year-long training to become idols, they successfully debut, with overwhelming popularity, much to their dismay. This is where their tragedy truly begins.
