Another of Osamu Tezuka’s works is being mined and revisited for a new adaptation with the Dororo manga that he created back in 1967. With it getting a black and white anime adaptation in 1969, this new incarnation has now been set for a January 7th, 2019 debut on TV Tokyo while Amazon Prime Video will handle worldwide distribution for it. The show has now released a new promotional video for it as well which adds a few more to the cast list. Kazuhiro Furuhashi is directing it based on the series composition by Yasuko Kobayashi. Satoshi Iwataki is handling the character designs with MAPPA handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:

- Naoya Uchida as Daigo Kagemitsu

Vertical Comics released the manga back in 2012. Anime Sols attempted to bring the 1969 series over a few years back via crowdfunding. A Japanese release did hit in 2015.

Plot Concept: The setting is the middle of the Muromachi Period, during the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei. The story begins in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District. The main character (Hyakkimaru), who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts.
