Second ‘Captain Marvel’ Trailer Arrives

2 min read

The Captain Marvel film is due out on March 8th, 2019 and after a first trailer that was aimed more at fans, Marvel Studios has now brought out the second trailer for the film that touches on the threat and the journey that our title character is going on. It’s definitely playing different than the first trailer, which will frustrate some fans, but what’s interesting is seeing how people are reacting based on gender to some degree as aspects of how Carol is being handled and portrayed here is resonating in ways that some may not expect.

Captain Marvel will see Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck tackling this project as co-directors, which is being written by Inside Out co-writer Meg LaFauve with Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman. The cast Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury with Jude Law, Gemma Chan, and Ben Mendelsohn.

Boden and Fleck have worked together on multiple projects over the years, including the 2015 film Mississipi Grind, and have dabbled in both film and TV with work recently on The Affair and Billions. That blend of mediums is something that Marvel Studios has been attracted to in their talent as there are things that you can bring across from both to make for an engaging film, especially when it comes to character work.

Property Concept: It will center on Danvers, an Air Force pilot who debuted in the comics in 1968 as a human companion to the original Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell). When her DNA was fused with that of an alien during an accident, the resulting alteration imbued her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection and flight.
