We learned about a week ago that Natsuki Takaya’s Fruits Basket manga is going to get an anime adaptation. With her Fruits Basket Another series wrapping up and just some one-off chapters in the future, the new series is set for a 2019 debut and there’s some movement on it already. Funimation will be streaming the show and have acquired the home video rights while also confirming that the new run will cover the full story. This season looks to be done by an entirely new team that has Yoshihide Ibata directing based on the series composition by Taku Kishimoto. Masaru Shindou is handling the character designs with TMS Entertainment handling the animation production. Check out the first two key visuals below.
The Japanese cast includes:

Funimation has released the series on DVD in North America and Yen Press is releasing the manga. The main manga wrapped up in 2006 and Fruits Basket Another kicked off in 2015 and has three volumes. The original series ran for twenty-three volumes which Yen Press has put out in omnibus editions.
The previous series was directed by Akitaro Daichi, the Japanese cast includes Aya Hisakawa as Yuki Soma, Tomokazu Seki as Kyo Soma, Yui Horie as Toru Honda, Akio Suyama as Hatsuharu Soma, Ayaka Saito as Momiji Soma, Kaori Nazuka as Kisa Soma, Kazuhiko Inoue as Hatori Soma, Kotono Mitsuishi as Kagura Soma, Miina Tominaga as Ritsu Soma, Mitsuru Miyamoto as Ayame Soma, Reiko Yasuhara as Saki Hanajima, Ryotaro Okiayu as Shigure Soma, Wakaba Murasaki as Akito Sohma and Yuka Imai as Arisa Uotani.
Plot concept: When a member of the Sohma family is embraced by a person of the opposite gender, they transform into an animal of the Chinese Zodiac! A young girl stumbles upon their hidden secret and life at the Sohma house changes forever! Young Tohru Honda must promise the secret will remain her own… or face the consequences!
