After focusing on a children’s show job the last time around this one brings some of the boys to the beach where they’re working out. With members from different groups having come to participate in a concert there we get some fun competitive spirit in play, especially with the whole manly ramen gig that’s going on that’s being used to attract attention to the rice shack. The competitive nature of the guys is comical as FRAME and THE Kogadou both view themselves as the best and that makes it easy to really make the shop money since they’re trying to outdo each other in a traditional manner.
In Summary:
This series is still underperforming for me after Cinderella Girls in that even when that show broke an episode up into three tales it felt like it accomplished a bit more in terms of character. I’m still not connecting with any of the guys here and it’s just a mishmash of characters that move across the screen. It is fun to watch because there’s some basic and workable comedy material here that transcends whether you know them from the main show or not, especially since it does lean into familiar gag territory in a lot of ways. It moves quick and has a lot of fun with itself and a good portion of the gags do land well so it’s an easy way to kill a few minutes.
