Henderson Wade Boards ‘Swamp Thing’ As Matt Cable

2 min read

With the Titans TV series underway on the DC Universe streaming service and Doom Patrol moving right along with casting for 2019, the reveal previously of a Swamp Thing project has me hugely excited considering where the comics have gone over the years. With the main casting having wrapped up it looks like some of the supporting and semi-regular sides are getting filled in. One is the addition of Henderson Wade as Matt Cable, which is getting reworked a bit from his comics role in the FBI to something more local. Wade was seen in Extant previously and has a recurring role on Riverdale as Sheriff Minetta.

Alec is described as “a Louisiana lawman who finds himself in dire straits when supernatural evil threatens the town he’s sworn to protect.”

The project has Mark Verheiden writing it with Gary Dauberman and both will serve as executive producers as well.

The cast includes Crystal Reed as Abigal Arcane, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp thing, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, and Henderson Wade as Matt Cable.

The production for this comes from the Atomic Monster folks, which is James Wan’s company, in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Plot Concept: Swamp Thing centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane. When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all!
