The Birds of Prey film still has some casting to do as we’re waiting on Barbara Gordon and Cassandra Cain but it’s at least found its villain. The film has now added Ewan McGregor to take on the role of Black Mask.
The character is described by Deadline as “Black Mask is a Gotham City mob boss aka Roman Sionis who leads the False Face Society gang. In the comics, he killed his wealthy parents in order to take control of their corporation, but he was a terrible businessman and lost everything. He blames others for his shortcomings with Bruce Wayne being one of his targets.”
The character was created by writer Doug Moench and artist Tom Mandrake back in 1985 with Batman #386.
The film is set for a February 7th, 2020 release with Cathy Han directing the R-Rated project.
The cast so far includes Margot Robbie as Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Dinah Lance/Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Helena Bertinelli/Huntress, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, and Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis/Black Mask.
