The Weekly Movies Discussion Post For October 28th, 2018

2 min read

The fall months continue to move on and we’re close to wrapping up October and it’s continuing to be very frustrating as I’m not getting to watch nearly as much as I’d like. I do blame the fall TV season for gobbling up a lot of time as well as trying to make a dent on some Netflix shows but I really miss going to the movies. The timing just hasn’t been there and I really need to figure out how to correct it because there are a lot of things I want to see in the theater that are coming up and a few recent ones that are starting to arrive in my area as well.

And I really kinda wanna see Venom too against my better judgment.

This week didn’t have much for me to pickup on the backlist that I wanted to see but I did splurge a little bit by spending $10 and getting a couple of digital releases.

First, one of my titles in the wishlist dropped by about 50% in price with Girl Asleep, which was directed by Rosemary Myers. I’ve yet to see it but the trailer for it that I saw some time ago had me put it on my cheap film wishlist because I knew it wouldn’t get a theatrical release here.

The other movie that I grabbed is as close to what I’ll call a guilty pleasure as any film with Jennifer’s Body. In my defense, my daughter wanted to see the film since she’s heard a lot about it but I don’t think it was streaming anywhere so I grabbed it as part of the iTunes seasonal Halloween sale for $5. I’m a big fan of Amanda Seyfried with a lot of things she worked on early on, this one included, and I’ll admit to being a Megan Fox fan as well – particularly her turn on New Girl that really worked well.

I’m definitely going to do my best to get into the theater next weekend since I want to see Bohemian Rhapsody and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms films.
