The Weekly Anime Discussion Post For October 28th, 2018

The first month of the fall season is behind us and those poor sweet summer shows are barely a memory for most, unless they were one of the precious few that are carrying on into this season. The fall season is an embarrassment of riches for most fans but I find myself continuing to be frustrated by the lack of shorts since that’s what I crave, making my skewed view all the weirder. For me, I’m now working through the summer 2017 season with home video releases coming out and enjoying myself a whole lot – separated from some of the passion that comes from discovering a new show in a shared social media environment.

The big news this week has been about the live-action My Hero Academia film that Hollywood looks to be putting together and I find it to be an absolute delight. While I’ve only seen the first season of the anime and a bit of the second, both of my kids are into it and my youngest is a huge fan. That, naturally, means lots of opportunities for me to torment her with how badly it will go, from telling her that they’re rewriting it to be focused heavily on Mineta to the obvious Dwayne Johnson starring as All-Might gags there are out there.

We’re close to wrapping up what few releases we have on hand but there’s some good stuff in the mix, such as our review tomorrow for Made in Abyss:
