The latest rankings have come in from Japan with what’s selling on the manga and light novel side of the market and it’s a quiet week. The top title is Hunter x Hunter and after racking up about 500,000 units in its first four days of sale it added another 210,000 this past week to bring it to just over 700,000 units in about ten days. It’s closely followed by Haikyuu!! which added another 170,000 units. Once past that we get a lot of smaller second-week sales as well as smaller titles with new debuts. Interesting, it looks like further down the chart we’re seeing older and first volumes of Slime creeping onto the chart with the debut of the anime.
On the light novel side, the latest Mahouka novel is out with a new series start that lands at 54,000 units and we’re seeing some good numbres of titles that have new anime adaptations in th emix. It looks like some potential for Slime to generate some sales for earlier volumes here and a lot of what we see are titles with anime adaptations out now, recently, or in the works.
