What They Say
After escaping Aryabhata’s wrath, Seigi gets pulled into a battle with one of her sisters, the martial artist Syunya! Blessed with preternatural strength and a mastery of nearly every combat style imaginable, Syunya is a force to be reckoned with! In order to achieve victory, Seigi has paid a steep price, losing much of his humanity in the process…but will it be enough?

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Having undergone a brutal surgery to replace much of his muscle mass with cybernetics, Seigi is ready to make use of his near cyborg status. The only problem is, his opponent, Syunya is still faster. The only thing keeping him alive in their grueling battle is his quick healing ability. Without that, she would have splattered Tokyo with his bloody body parts on their first exchange of blows.

While that battle is fast and aspects are unfortunately lost in its panel layout, the other fight going on simultaneously is between the Princesses other two sisters and the rest of Seigi’s squad. These two are no slouches and they manage to take out the foot soldiers from Seigi’s team like they are extras in a horror movie. Easy and Tamaki might just lose if they can’t figure out how to counter the girl’s mastery of wind. Unfortunately for the reader, this is where the author tries to explain to the reader how awesome this wind power is that he thought up. It is a common problem when the story gets bogged down in needles explanations of how someone’s superpower works. This is especially true when it’s the power of tertiary character that isn’t going to stick around long enough for it to matter.

Both battles mix together after Seigi injects himself with a drug that is truly his last line of defense. It is enough to allow him to catch up to Syunya’s speed, but will it be enough for him to overcome her mastery of multiple martial arts? Can Easy and Tamaki survive the boring explanation of the sister’s wind power so they can defeat the Princesses sisters?

In Summary:
Most this volume fails to stray from the battle-heavy story. It also gets bogged down in needless explanations of how an enemy’s superpowers work. The highlights for this volume are seeing how far Seigi has decided to push his body and humanity. That level of desire is impressive, and we get to learn more about his parents. His parent’s personalities and careers go a long way to build his character and explain why he would sacrifice himself to save the world. We also get another glimpse at the demons that are the Spell Crests and what they think of the battle between Seigi and the Princess.

Things are about to get wild as the proverbial final battle quickly approaches!
