Viz Media picked up a new manga acquisition at the NYCC event this weekend with the announcement of Daytime Shooting Star. The book comes from creator Mika Yamamori which began in 2011 before finishing off back in 2014 with twelve volumes (and a spinoff). It received a live-action adaptation feature film in 2017.
The publisher is looking at a summer 2019 debut but did not specify whether they’d be doing omnibus or single volumes for the run.
Plot Concept: The story deals with Suzume Yosano, a high school girl who moves from the countryside to Tokyo. On her first day in Tokyo, she gets lost, and a man helps her. That man turns out to be her new homeroom teacher named Satsuki Shishio. Suzume gradually comes to like Satsuki. Sitting next to Suzume in her class is Daiki Mamura, who hates women. Daiki and Suzume soon become friends.
