Funimation brought out a very fun new show earlier this week with the debut of Brave Witches. The series received a bilingual DVD/BD combo release on September 25th, 2018 and we now have a new dubbed trailer for it. The set is priced at $64.98 and comes with a digital copy through Funimation’s streaming service. The twelve episode series comes with the clean opening and closing as extras. The show was directed by Kazuhiro Takamura, who also did the character designs, with the overall series composition from Striker Unit. Brave Witches was animated at Silver Link. Shigeki Izumo worked on mechanical design, Tomohiro Yoshida as sound director and Seikou Nagaoka on music.
The series has Christopher Bevins serving as the ADR director with Tyson Rinehart as the scriptwriter for it. The cast includes Madeleine Morris as Flight Sergeant Hikari Karibuchi, Amber Lee Connors as Sub-Lieutenant Takami Karibuchi, Mikaela Krantz as Pilot Officer Naoe Kanno, Krystal LaPorte as Flight Sergeant Nikka Edvardine “Nipa” Katajainen, Monica Rial as Flight Lieutenant Aleksandra Ivanovna “Sasha” Pokryshkin, Rachel Robinson as Squadron Leader Gundula Rall, Jill Harris as Flight Sergeant Edytha “Meister” Rossman, Felecia Angelle as Flying Officer Waltrud Krupinski, Natalie Hoover as Pilot Officer Georgette Lemare, Dawn M. Bennett as Flight Sergeant Shimohara Sadako, Jeremy Schwartz as Narrator, Kristen McGuire as Mia Misumi, Terri Doty as Takeko Karibuchi, Christopher Bevins as Kouhei Karibuchi, Nicole Endicott as Principal Fumika Kitagou, Jessica Cavanagh as Lieutenant Commander Mie Shindou, Bill Jenkins as Admiral Yoshizaburo Oosawa, and Dave Trosko as Mizunuma.
Yoko Ishida will perform the opening theme song for the series with “Ashita no Tsubasa.”
The Japanese cast includes Ai Kakuma as Hikari Karibuchi, Rie Suegara as Takami Karibuchi, Rie Murakawa as Naoe Kanno, Natsumi Takamori as Nikka Edvardine Katajainen, Kayo Ishida as Waltrud Krupinski, Yumi Hara as Alexandra I Pokryshkin, Haruka Terui as Georgette Lemare, Marin Mizutani as Sadako Shimohara, Hiromi Igarashi as Edytha Rossmann and Rina Satou as Gundula Rall.
Plot concept: In September 1944, allied forces led by the 501st Joint Fighter Wing “Strike Witches” successfully eliminate the Neuroi threat from the skies of the Republic of Gallia, thus ensuring the security of western Europe. Taking advantage of this victory, allied forces begin a full-fledged push toward central and eastern Europe. From a base in Petersburg in the Empire of Orussia, the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing “Brave Witches,” upon whom mankind has placed its hopes, flies with courage in the cold skies of eastern Europe.
