‘There is a Dark God of Destruction Next to Me’ Manga Getting Anime Adaptation

1 min read

A new anime adaptation based on a manga is on the horizon with Arata Aki’s work Boku no Tonari ni Ankoku Hankaishin ga Imasu getting the green light according to the latest Monthly Comic Gene. The series, which translates as There is a Dark God of Destruction Next to Me, began in 2013 and has nine volumes out so far with the tenth coming out next month which is when we expect to hear more on it.

Arata Aki has had a few manga works prior to this including the The Beautiful Skies of Houou High series that Digital Manga Publishing licensed.

Check out the official site and Twitter.

Plot Concept: The story focuses on Seri Koyuki, a high school student who tries to avoid strange people because he knows he will just end up being the straight man to their antics. Enter Kabuto Hanadori, Koyuki’s classmate who has chūnibyō (second-year middle school syndrome) and claims his eyepatch seals his god of destruction alter ego. Everything about Hanadori exudes the need for a straight man to keep him in check, and sure enough, Koyuki is drawn in.
