“Come-Come Smiles”

What They Say:
Chi is a sweet playful kitten, always full of energy. She gets milk from Yohei, and is relaxing at home, nice and full. As she searches around the house for something exciting, she comes across Yohei walking with a handful of rubber balls. The balls bounce everywhere as he drops them, and Yohei and Chi can’t get more excited. The day ends with Chi and the family making a great memory together.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With some fun focus on Chi by herself and her family the last time around with the auditions, this one brings us back to Come-Come, which can be hit or miss. Part of what Come-Come brings to it is the hard life of a street kitten which Chi really doesn’t experience often or even realizes it when she does. While Chi helps Come-Come get some good food after missing out on breakfast, the time at the park shows how her open nature lets her get into things Come-Come otherwise doesn’t since he’s a wary and cautious street cat. The different nature of the two of them is nicely explored here in several different ways with how they interact with their environment. Neither is more right or wrong when you get down to it and it’s easier to call Chi a tourist in a sense than anything else, giving Come-Come the street smarts advantage.

In Summary:
There’s some good stuff with Blackie getting involved that lets Come-Come and he play up being like Chi a bit and both of them really just not being right for it. Blackie gets away with it a bit more since he’s used it to survive before which is why it’s useful for Come-Come to learn. But neither will have it be as natural as it is to Chi, which is what makes the cat-world go round. It’s a cute episode but one that works some good differences clear once again between the two kittens while not really making one better than the other.
