The Fighting Kims are back, but this time, they’ve gone official!  Having been bounty hunters and mercenaries, Kim Q. and Kim D. have gone corporate, lending out their services as a business.  As one might assume, as we join them, it isn’t going so well.  The Kims’ have a rather bad habit of causing loads of property damage and sending people to the hospital (not people they were supposed to).  Things aren’t looking up, but luckily, their agent has a job.  a big painting has gone missing, the owners want it back, and the Fighting Kims are the hunters for the job!  Going corporate has been a mixed experience for the two, it would seem.  Kim Q. is wishing things were like the old days, where they got large payouts and did whatever they wanted, but Kim D. reminds her that going corporate means they aren’t freelancers anymore, they have rules to play by now.  One of which is making sure their thief, Xue Peng, gets nowhere near the vault the painting is kept in.

Reaching their destination, both Kims are in fancy dress at their destination, and the two show massively different ways of going about their task.  Kim D. asks around while Kim Q. does whatever she wants, but ultimately Kim Q. is the one to make contact with Peng.  Kim and Kim somehow manage to get Xue Peng to go off with them in pursuit of a valuable object, but Kim Q. decides getting into a fight is a good idea, and the other two scramble to get her out of it.  So after all that, what’s the plan they have in mind to take the object they mentioned earlier?  Kim Q. doesn’t know, but they’re gonna rob her dad!

In Summary:
This book was great.  There’s no other word for it.  Visaggio’s writing and Cabrera and Aguirre’s art/colors give us vibrant worlds and characters that seriously make one smile.  Kim Q. and Kim D. are much different in the way they handle thing, but one can certainly see the similarities that draw them together.  They’re both badass, but they’re also important representation-wise!  Kim Q. is Trans, and both are Bisexual.  In an age where we don’t see that too often, having two ass-kicking characters like Kim Q. and Kim D. is both awesome and sorely needed.  Seeing Kim Q.’s need to action tangle itself with her partner’s more by the rules, but still getting her hands dirty approach is hilarious and works so well.  The dialogue is great and really allows us to give personality to these characters.  The big theme in the book seems to have been how they function in a corporate setting, and as Kim Q. demonstrates wonderfully, the answer is, “Not too well!”  This book is simply a blast, and it’s incredibly fun from start to finish.  You definitely owe this book a shot, and I cannot recommend it enough.  If you see it, please do yourself and the creative team a favor and buy this now!
