Toonami Talks Viewership Numbers

1 min read

We talk about the ratings for the Toonami block pretty regularly around these parts with the see-saw nature of them for various shows in context to other programming going on Saturday nights in general and how the ebb and flow works when it comes to sporting events on it. Someone asked the network’s Jason DeMarco about it on ask.fm recently how these shows that, largely in repeat form, can stay on the air getting under 300,000 viewers. Of course, it does make sense when talking about this particular time of the night, but DeMarco goes a bit further with his answer.

This at least explains why they keep working with a number of familiar programs and serves as a reminder for views that Toonami’s goal isn’t to promote anime or a range of different and newer shows but just to be better than the infomercials and other late-night programming around it.
