Frontier Works is digging into their catalog a bit more once again as they’ve got the 2012 anime OVA property of Saiyuki Gaiden on track. The Blu-ray box set brings together the four-episode series on September 28th, 2018 priced at 16,200 yen discs and we now have the first look at the cover artwork for it, which we presume will have some logo work on it or more expansive packaging around it. It looks like it’ll have everything from the previous edition, including the artwork for the cover, with extras such as the commentary tracks, clean opening and closing, and a postcard collection. A second disc is included with the character songs and the original drama.

Plot concept: In their former lives, Genjyo Sanzo and his crew of misfits were gods; but they didn’t act divinely. When Goku flies into a murderous rage after seeing his best friend die, Heaven’s had enough and wants him dead! But Konzen Douji, Field Marshal Tenpou, and General Kenren are willing to do anything to protect Goku, even if it means turning all of Heaven against them. Will the three of them be enough to break through the Heavenly Western Army and escape to the Lower World? Or will the Journey to the West be over before it’s even begun?
