First ‘Godzilla: King of Monsters’ Trailer Arrives

2 min read

It’ll be pretty much five years since the 2014 Godzilla landed that attempted to bring the character to audiences anew and we’ve now got the first look at the Godzilla: King of Monsters trailer out of SDCC. It works a lot of teases of other creatures that show up on it and for those that grew up as kids watching things like the Creature Double Feature on Saturday afternoons, there’s a lot of childhood coming to life here.

Set for a May 31st, 2019 debut, it’s directed by Michael Dougherty based on the screenplay that he wrote with Zach Shields and Max Borenstein. It’s distributed by Warner Bros. worldwide with TOHO handling the Japanese release.

The cast includes Kyle Chandler as Mark Russell, Vera Farmiga as Dr. Emma Russell, Millie Bobby Brown as Madison, Bradley Whitford as Dr. Stanton, Sally Hawkins as Dr. Vivienne Graham, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch as Dr. Henry, O’Shea Jackson Jr. as Barnes, Ken Watanabe as Dr. Ishiro Serizawa, and Zhang Ziyi as Dr. Chen.

Plot Concept: The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of Huge monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species – thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
