Discotek Media Confirms ‘Sister Princess’ Blu-ray Anime Glitch & Sets Replacements

2 min read

Discotek Media made a pretty good pickup with a rescue and a bit of unfinished business earlier this year with their acquisition of the Sister Princess and Sister Princess Re Pure series. Unfortunately, it looks like a problem was discovered with the first series set that came out on June 26th, 2018 as the company has confirmed that there are no subtitles for the final three episodes of the release. They’re in the process of getting it fixed and will handle replacements:

Directed by Kiyotaka Ohata and Ikuji Inada based on the series composition by Masaharu Amiya, it was animated by ZEXCS with character designs by Yasunari Nitta. The Japanese cast includes Kenji Nojima as Wataru Minakami, Yui Horie as Sakuya, Ayako Kawasumi as Chikage, Chiemi Chiba as Hinako, Chiro Kanzaki as Rinrin, Hisayo Mochizuki as Kaho, Hisayoshi Izaki as Minai, Kumiko Yokote as Shirayuki, Nana Mizuki as Aria, Natsuko Kuwatani as Karen, Ryoka Yuzuki as Marie, Ryotaro Okiayu as Akio, Tomoe Hanba as Yotsuba, Uchujin as Mac Yamato and Yumi Kakazu as Haruka.

The series was licensed and released with its first season by ADV Films in 2003 and released on DVD several times. The English dub was directed by Scott McClennen and the cast included Braden Hunt as Wataru Minakami, Monica Rial as Sakuya, Christine Auten as Mami, Cynthia Martinez as Kaho, Greg Ayres as Taro Yamada, Hilary Haag as Karen, Jessica Boone as Shirayuki, John Swasey as Jeeves, Kira Vincent-Davis as Mamoru, Luci Christian as Yotsuba, Mariela Ortiz as Aria, Nancy Novotny as Rin Rin, Sasha Paysinger as Marie, Serena Varghese as Hinako, Shelley Calene-Black as Chikage and Tiffany Grant as Haruka.

Plot concept: Wataru Minakami is a top student who failed his high school entrance exam because of a computer glitch. He later discovered that he was accepted to Stargazer Hill Academy, which is located at a mysterious place called Promised Island. At the request of his father, Wataru is whisked away to the island, and before he can settle in, a dozen of cute and charming girls start to flock him and claim to be his younger sisters. As Wataru gets closer to his newfound siblings, a deeper mystery as to why they were sent to the island comes to play.
