Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
With the brutal battle between Kuroko and a mass murder behind us, this volume takes a complete turn to focus on the beauty of the female form. Kuroko has been tasked with retrieving an idol from a creepy cult. Well, maybe not too creepy on the surface…all the members are young women and there are absolutely no men allowed. There’s a good chance Kuroko will never choose to leave!
The Virginal Rose cult is unique as cults go. They claim they were established to protect young women, surrounding themselves with rose bushes and love. Supposedly, they sell roses to support themselves, but something is fishy. Why would someone like an idol with tons of fans, friends, money, and a family that loves her decide to escape to the Virginal Rose? It is Kuroko’s job to find out and retrieve the idol. Only problem is, Kuroko is such a hardcore lesbian that she might completely fail at this job.
Not if Chiyo has any say in the matter. After not hearing from Kuroko for a week, she has lost all her patience and is ready to retrieve the booby-hound Kuroko. Grabbing her katana, she demands that Hinako drive them to the Virginal Rose. Things quickly snowball into a hectic whirlwind of blades and boobs as Chiyo breaks down the Virginal Rose defenses and finally reveals the cults deep dark secrets. But will Kuroko be willing to leave her ultimate fantasy for her normal life?
In Summary:
This volume leaves the cloak and dagger power plays of the last volume behind. Instead, the there is a laser focus on Kuroko and her infiltration of a mysterious cult. So, while the constant action of past volumes is replaced with rose gardening, what stays the same is Kuroko’s love of women and the brutality of her career. Personally, I enjoyed the break in action from this series. It gives Chiyo a chance to be a focal point of the story and allows her character to expand beyond the tertiary status she has had up till now. I’m hoping Chiyo gets a chance to expand her role in future volumes.
