‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Tops Box Office

2 min read

With so many films out previously and a mid-week fourth of July holiday ahead, this weekend has had little in the way to really excite for people to get out and see since most of the big films landed weeks ago. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom held the top spot for a $60 million take to bring its domestic up to $264 million since coming out and another $667 million overseas total, bringing it close to a billion dollars already.

Incredibles 2 had a decent hold with a $45 million take that makes out well with weekday showings now that school is out and a domestic of $439 million and another $200 million or so overseas so far.

Of the new films, Sicaro: Day of the Soldado landed with a $19 million take on a $35 million budget that’s likely to hit about $50 million domestic when all is said and done. Also out this weekend was Uncle Drew which landed with $15 million and is expected to land at about $35 million total.

Most of the attention is shifting to next weekend’s debut of Ant-Man and Wasp, which is the last Marvel film until Captain Marvel arrives in February 2019, giving us a lot of downtime for the overall franchise. We also get on  Wednesday the debut of The first Purge in 3,000 screens, so there’s a little bit of variety ahead.
