With the Transformers franchise struggling with the last film, coming in at just $605 million worldwide, the push to expand into character films instead of just a full on fresh reboot with new talent is underway. Set for a Christmas 2018 release, Paramount has now brought out the first trailer for it that at least has something that feels like a more thoughtful poster for it.
The film was directed by Travis Knight based on the screenplay by Christina Hodson and had a $102 million budget. The cast includes Hailee Steinfeld, Jorge Lendeborg Jr, John Ortiz, Jason Drucker, Pamela Adlon, and Stephen Schneider
Plot Concept: Set in 1987, we find Bumblebee in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When she revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary VW bug.
