We learned back in March that those that enjoyed the Ongaku Shojo short from the Anime Mirai project a few years back are in for a treat as Studio DEEN revealed that a TV series adaptation is coming as part of the summer 2018 season this July. It’s been quiet since then but we now have the first promotional video for the series which includes a July 6th, 2018 debut.

The show is directed by Yukio Nishimoto based on the series composition by Deko Akao. Momoka Komatsu is adapting the character designs from what Matsuri Santa originally created. Studio DEEN is handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Seria Fukagawa as Hanako Yamadaki, Karin Takahashi as Sasame Mitsukuri, Miho Okazaki as Mirai Nishio, Yuko Ōno as Yukino Hinata, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Shoop Gushiken, Nako Eguchi as Roro Morooka, Lynn as Kotoko Kintoki, Yui Ogura as Haori Mukae, Sumire Uesaka as Kiri Mukae, Manami Numakura as Haru Chitose, Asami Seto as Eri Kumagai, and Mai Fuchigami as Sarasa Ryūō.

Plot Concept: The series follows Hanako Yamadaki when she encounters the obscure, low-selling 11-member “C-list” idol unit Ongaku Shōjo. Their producer Ikehashi thinks the unit needs a new member. Together, Ongaku Shōjo and Hanako strive for the top of the music world.
