With distribution in streaming form through Amazon recently, the Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter anime series has found itself a new home with GKIDS for US distribution. The twenty-six episode series has seen some solid streaming distribution since it debut but home video releases have been harder to come across.

Genevieve Dexter, CEO of Serious Lunch, said: “We are pleased to expand the reach of this exquisite animated family program for our partners Studio Ghibli and The Astrid Lindgren Company and hope to close further French-speaking rights deals at MIFA in Annecy next month. We are also seeking deals in Italy for all platforms.”

Distribution was also set for UYoung Media in China and PTS in Taiwan. Deals with RTBF for French Belgium, RTS for French Switzerland and TF1 Max in France kick-start the production of a French version.

The Ronja series stars Haruka Shiraishi as Ronja, Atsuki Tani as Borka, Fukiko Endō as Narrator, Keiji Himeno as Lill-Klippen, Kenji Sugimura as Sturkas, Mika Doi as Undis, Reika Uyama as Birk, Rintarou Nishi as Tjegge, Saori Kato as Harpy, Shoichiro Akaboshi as Fjosok, Takaaki Seki as Mattis, Takahiro Shimada as Knotas, Takeo Ogawa as Tjorm, Umeji Sasaki as Skalle-Per, Yukari Nozawa as Lovis and Yuusuke Tezuka as Pelje.

Plot Concept: The story is about a girl named Ronja who is the daughter of a chief of a tribe of bandits and lives in a huge castle in the forest with the bandits. The story follows Ronja as she encounters mystical creatures, makes friends with another young child like herself, and experiences life in the forest.
