While the main cast has been getting along pretty good with some silliness after each introduction, this episode shifts gears just a touch with a new rival. The Dark House restaurant that’s opening up soon has everyone concerned for the cafe but there’s definitely something amusing about the new place with its creepiness and how it markets everything. It’s definitely a theme place as we see the gang getting to check it out and discover Yamiry, who runs it – and has been feeding Ruhara to get her to be a new employee. It’s a pretty chaotic kind of thing overall with what’s going on in that Yamiry was a customer of Kissa and is doing her best to close it down with Dark House so that they’ll all have to work there as maids.
In Summary:
Alice or Alice has had some fun episodes but it also suffers like a lot of shorts do in trying to cram too much into it and trying to be bigger than it is. The introduction of Dark House isn’t bad but I’d rather see more time with the gang hanging out or doing silly things together than dealing with a rival cafe, especially since it’s such a distinct theme one that won’t appeal to the majority of the public. It does have plenty of silly moments and it sets up a confrontation in a big way with the next episode but it doesn’t get me really enthused about it.
