Frontier Works was looking for something from its catalog to release on Blu-ray and they’ve picked out the Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo. The show is being done as a standard definition release on Blu-ray so that it can fit the 76 episodes across 3 Blu-ray discs in 480i – and asking a hefty price for it. The set was released back on April 25th, 2018 priced at 31,000 yen and I missed the artwork previously, probably because I was hoping it was a placeholder piece. But, uh, nope.

A booklet is listed as being included but nothing else at the moment. The set looks like it’s being remastered from the original master with a “high rate SD” encoding that will look better than the previous DVD releases.

Plot Concept: He’s soulful… He’s dynamic… And he’s HAIRY. Meet BoBoBo-Bo Bo-BoBo. With his golden afro and 5-foot nose hairs as weapons, he’s out to protect hairdom from the authoritarian tyrant, Czar Baldy Bald IV, who has initiated a “Hair Hunt” to crack down on any citizens who wish to hold on to their curly locks. Join BoBoBo as he rescues Beauty, turns into fruit, sits inside a large burger bun, turns into a tank, cross-dresses, and introduces the would-be hair snatchers to his Honorable King Nose Hair, Bababa-Baba-Baba. Together, BoBoBo and Beauty team up with a similarly wacky group of allies – including the unpredictable Don Patch and Gasser, a sidekick who uses flatulence as a weapon.
