Chi’s Sweet Adventure Episode #18 Anime Review

2 min read

Chi Coaches Mommy

What They Say:
Chi is a sweet playful kitten, always full of energy. She gets milk from Yohei, and is relaxing at home, nice and full. As she searches around the house for something exciting, she comes across Yohei walking with a handful of rubber balls. The balls bounce everywhere as he drops them, and Yohei and Chi can’t get more excited. The day ends with Chi and the family making a great memory together.

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With some cuteness in seeing Chi taking some lessons from Blackie recently that didn’t exactly work out for Chi and wasn’t great for family cohesion, things shift in a different direction here. The bond between a kitten and a stay at home mom is always a little different and the two are fun to watch together here as they enjoy tasty treats. It goes badly for mom, however, when dad makes a joke about her becoming a cow (oof, bad dad!) at the same time that the button on her jeans blows off. That cold open sets us up for the episode in general as mom tries to get back on track with everything even though she pretty much looks like a twig. While she may have been known as “Fire Angel Miwa” back in tennis club in college, she’s not as limber as she was before and doing easy yoga poses is really doing her in – especially as Chi does them with her for the most part and does them better and easier.

In Summary:
Getting into a competition with a cat is never going to end well for the person. The yoga side plays out for most of the episode and it’s definitely fun watching all the struggles that mom goes through here. Chi’s eternal optimism is always cute and she definitely has fun with everything here much to moms frustration, which just makes it all the more comical. While the initial reason for the exercise may have been a bit mean and thoughtless with how it was presented, Mom eventually finds the right way to do things here with Chi and it helps to reinforce their bond, especially when she calls Chi coach.
