Frontier Works Reveals New ‘Black Cat’ Blu-ray Anime Collection Packaging

2 min read

Sometimes when there are now high definition materials available but you want to make some money on a release, you have to get a little funky. Frontier Works has scheduled the complete Black Cat series for a Blu-ray release on May 25th, 2018 where it’ll be priced at 17,280 yen and as we’re just a couple of weeks away we now have a look at the packaging for it. It’s definitely a slick looking piece that plays up the right elements for the show. The twenty-four episode anime series will be on a single Blu-ray disc for its entire run done in 480i but with an obviously higher bitrate than their previous DVD releases and a cleaner look overall as we get the SDBD release here.

Originally airing in 2005, it was directed by Shin Itagaki based on the series composition by Shuuichi Kouyama and character designs by Yukiko Akiyama with animation production by Gonzo. It was based on the manga series by Kentaro Yabuki that ran for thirty volumes between 2000 and 2004 with Viz Media releasing it in English.

The Japanese cast includes Keiji Fujiwara as Sven Vollfied, Misato Fukuen as Eve, Shinichiro Miki as Creed Diskenth, Takashi Kondo as Train Heartnet and Yukana as Rinslet Walker.

The English cast includes Brandon Potter as Sven Vollfied, Brina Palencia as Eve, Chris Patton as Creed Diskenth, Jamie Marchi as Rinslet Walker and Jason Liebrecht as Train Heartnet.

Plot Concept: Sven is your run-of-the-mill sweeper (a.k.a. bounty hunter) — down on his luck, haunted by the perpetual grumbling of his stomach and looking to make enough cash just to get by. When a damsel in distress enlists his aid, Sven crosses paths with the worst possible luck — Black Cat (a.k.a. Train Heartnet). At odds now with the branded assassin, Sven seeks to save a young girl before the unlucky Number can carry out his mission.
