Aya Asagiri lives a life of torture. Bullied by her peers and physically abused by her brother, she contemplates suicide as a means of escapism. One particularly harsh night, her laptop abruptly turns on and beckons her toward it. There, a website known simply as the ‘Mahou Shoujo Site’ offers her a chance to sculpt her own fate with the help of a stick that will grant her powers. But will something as simple as a magic wand truly be enough to save her from a life not worth living?

With Sarina emotionally unchained and Yatsumura on the brink of death, Aya Asagiri’s life is about to get even more difficult. As if it wasn’t stressful enough aimlessly tracking down a magical girl with an anti-coma stick (A pairing of words I never thought I would use together), our protagonist now needs to stand up in the face of adversity and preserve not only her life but the life of her companion. Of course, this is easier said than done. In last week’s episode, we discovered that Sarina’s magical stick is a yo-yo. Well, as it turns out, this yo-yo is absolutely bonkers and is, in no way whatsoever, suitable for children. In fact, it’s not suitable for adults either. You can tell because she cuts Yastumura’s hostage in half with it.
Stripped of her only reason to live, Yastumura slips into unconsciousness and Sarina locks into battle with Aya. Meanwhile, back at the hospital, Nijimin finally comes face to face with the girl who killed her friend. And while this may be great for her, it only lasts a matter of seconds as Rina is once again enveloped by that weird yellow defense cube. As it turns out, that thing can be initialized pretty much anywhere as long as two buttons are pressed down. As Aya and Yatsumura (But mainly the latter) figured things might come to this, they had already stashed away one of the beacons under Rina’s bed. Rightfully infuriated, Nijimin storms off with an extra two names on her hit list. I think it’s relatively easy to ascertain whose two names those are.
Amongst all of the action (Which consumes probably 80% of this episode), we finally get to see Aya stand up for herself. Kind of. Safe behind another layer of the yellow cube thing, Aya gets locked in a screaming match with Sarina about how she’s been pushed to the brink of suicide for months now. She goes on to essentially call Sarina the worst kind of person ever but, when given the opportunity to kill her minutes later, she backs down and teleports Sarina to school instead. And while this may seem like a gesture meant to emphasize how Aya has grown as a person, it’s honestly a terrible idea since Sarina is just going to try and kill her again anyway. So yeah. Way to go, Aya.
At the end of the day, Magical Girl Site has finally developed its own brand of factions. Aya and Yastumura are clearly the good guys in this scenario (Even if one of them kidnapped a man and tortured him for years). Sarina and Nijimin, on the other hand, are clearly antagonists and are dead-set on killing anyone who gets in their way. So with that being said, where does the mysterious eye-patch girl who shows up in the last two minutes of the episode fit in? She seems just as crazy as the other ‘bad girls,’ but can she really live up to the already high standard set for evil in this series? Find out next week on Dragonba- ahem, Magical Girl Site!
In Summary:
As expected, Mahou Shoujo Site remains just as unhinged as always. Both Sarina and Nijimin are in full-on scary-mode right now and Yatsumura, who I had previously deemed the true protagonist, might actually be dead by next week. Of course, it is highly likely that she stays alive since Aya has no clear way of surviving without her…But either way, things are definitely eventful in this series if not anything else. The biggest problem now is that our protagonists have multiple girls who are after their heads- and I’m pretty sure Aya may have lost her magic stick. Coming out on top without that seems even bleaker than normal, but we’ll just have to wait and see how Aya is able to adapt. I’ll tell you one thing- if it’s anything even remotely close to how she’s been doing so far, I’m sure she’ll be…dead within a matter of weeks.
