Chi Takes Cat Lessons 3

What They Say:
Chi is a sweet playful kitten, always full of energy. She gets milk from Yohei, and is relaxing at home, nice and full. As she searches around the house for something exciting, she comes across Yohei walking with a handful of rubber balls. The balls bounce everywhere as he drops them, and Yohei and Chi can’t get more excited. The day ends with Chi and the family making a great memory together.

While cats understand a lot of things about how to be a cat by instinct there are also lots of things that are taught by other cats. Having brought isolated cats into an environment with other cats I’ve long liked the way that happens, especially when the established cats pick up something new. This series handles a good portion of these kinds of socializations with Blackie, our resident outdoor Bear Cat, as he does his best to show her how to be a proper cat that can survive out there. It can be jarring sometimes, such as when we saw Blackie take down a gaggle of birds, but mostly it’s good stuff.

With Blackie watching Chi from the outside he’s seeing a pretty particular and spoiled cat that needs to be put in her place and understand the pride of a cat. Blackie does his best to teach her the proper way to be when dealing with her family and just how to act in general with posture. Chi just wants to enjoy life, however, and Blackie’s teachings run counter to that – and to getting milk and food in her belly. There’s a fun food montage going on here but at the same time it’s just having the opposite effect as Chi gets food she’s not interested in and is worrying her family. Blackie’s not exactly wrong in some of what he’s trying to teach here in cat tradition but it’s not a universal thing and runs counter to how Chi’s personality is, which makes the family worry even more.

In Summary:
While Blackie is trying to do his best here to do the right thing from his point of view it naturally backfires – but not on him but on Chi. IT is cute seeing Chi trying to go counter to how she usually is and how much it panics the family with how they react to it. This wasn’t one of my favorite episodes since it had Chi being unlike her usual self but it did deliver some laughs and it doesn’t end well for Chi.
