The second series for The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. has been moving right along and now the 17th episode of the series is lined up for a May 9th, 2018 debut. The first preview of it has landed as it shows off more wacky happenings that Kusuo gets caught up in or causes himself. The first season was licensed and released by Funimation after simulcasting it but nobody has picked up the simulcast rights for the second season.

The show was directed by Hiroaki Sakurai based on the series composition from Michiko Yokote. Masayuki Onji served as the character designs while JC Staff and Egg Firm will be handled the animation production for it.

The Japanese cast includes Hiroshi Kamiya as Kusuo Saiki, Mitsuo Iwata as Kuniharu Saiki, Rikako Aikawa as Kurumi Saiki, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shun Kaidou, Daisuke Ono as Riki Nendou, Yukari Tamura as Chiyo Yumehara, Ai Kayano as Kokomi Teruhashi, Satoshi Hino as Kenishi Hairo, Natsuki Hanae as Reita Toritsuka, Tomoaki Maeno as Makoyo Terukyo, Maaya Uchida as Chisato Meyro, Showtaro Morikubo as Uryoku Chouno and Yoshimasa Hosoya as Aren Kubayasu.

The manga comes from creator Shuichi Asou which began back in 2012 and has twenty-four volumes published as if its end in February 2018. A sequel manga series kicked off in March 2018. It’s not been picked up for release outside of Japan (yet). A flash anime short-form series was produced in 2013 for it, which has a different cast than what this series will have. A light novel was also produced in 2013.

Plot concept: Saiki Kusuo has a wide array of superpowers at his command, including telepathy and telekinesis. This might sound awesome, but, in Kusuo’s experience, superpowers are not all they’re cracked up to be. He tries to live a normal life, despite his annoying abilities.
