Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Kyouka and Atsushi have their first assignment delivering a document to a judge. Technically, Kyouka succeeds, but the delivery left much to be desired. While the two of them take a break and talk about the incident and Kyouka’s future, she receives on call on her cell. Kouyou, Port Mafia leader, appears suddenly and has already attacked Atsushi. She wants Kyouka to return to the Port Mafia.

Kouyou is intent on bringing Kyouka back, even to the point of threatening to kill Atsushi to convince her. Initially, it seems that Kyouka agrees, but she stabs Kouyou and activates her power, Demon Snow. Kouyou’s, Golden Demon, fights Demon Snow while she continues to try to convince Kyouka to return by making her think she is not worthy to stay with the Armed Detective Agency. Kouyou even reveals that the Kyouka killed her parents with her Demon Snow. Kyouka’s phone is smashed and it seems that that Kyouka and Atsushi are done for.

The Armed Detective Agency shows up, but people from the Guild does too. The outcome is decidedly in the Guild’s favor leaving most either dead or severely injured. Atsushi and the Agency are back to square one and the Guild seem to be enjoying their visit to Japan and making plans for their next move. With the Agency capturing Kouyou, Dazai does his own form of interrogation.

The Agency goes into hiding, the Mafia is on the move and the Guild is enjoying the hunt. Everyone wants to win this war, so the Agency is creating a plan and keeping their new base secret is the most important element. The Mafia is also striking the Guild while they can and take out their liner and two of their agents.

In Summary:
This anime follows the manga so closely, so that when I’m reading I bring forth images from the anime including the voices. Sounds a bit strange perhaps, but I do think it’s due to the anime being so true to the manga, which for a fan gives the property a big thumbs up. I am looking forward to getting further in the manga than the anime, so the content will seem new and perhaps be a bit more exciting. As far as the production side of the manga, as always Yen Press does a very nice job including the color inserts, the postscript and all the little extras. I’m also planning to see the movie that Crunchyroll is promoting and hoping that will renew my interest in this sereis some.
