2 min read

Funimation has their panel at C2E2 today in Chicago and they’ve made some news that will delight fans.

First, the distributor has acquired the home video rights to the live-action Assassination Classroom movies. They’ll be subtitled only and will release on August 7th, 2018.

Plot Concept: The killer manga comes to life in this two-part movie series. Join the students of Class 3-E as they learn to become proper assassins and try to kill their teacher. But he’s no ordinary instructor—he’s a tentacled creature with a thirst for destruction! And while they train to take him out they quickly learn there’s more to Koro Sensei than a will to kill which could put a damper on their mission.

Second, the distributor has revealed the dub cast and staff for the Twin Star Exorcists release that’s planed for a July 24th, 2018 debut. The series is directed by Ryan Johnston and Suzanne Goldish and produced by Crunchyroll. The cast includes:

  • Bryce Papenbrook as Rokuro Enmado
  • Cassandra Lee Morris as Benio Adashino
  • Laura Summer as Mayura Otomi
  • Vic Mignogna as Yuto Ijika
  • Erica Lindbeck as Kohana
  • Todd Haberkorn as Ryogo Nagitsuji
  • Joey Lotsko as Kinako
  • Alex Evette as Kinu Furusato
  • Brian Beacock as Shinnosuke Kunizaki
  • Kate Higgins as Subaru Mitejima
  • Johnny Yong Bosch as Shimon Ikarugaon

Plot Concept: He vows to never use his powers—she wants revenge for her family. But when a prophecy states that 14-year-olds Rokuro and Benio will be the parents of the child destined to save the world, things don’t go as planned. Only their combined powers can defeat the invasion of monsters from another realm. Which means that before these two can have a baby, they’ll have to raise a little hell.

And finally, the company has picked up the home video rights to the Ai Tenchi Muyo series, which is welcome as they have all the other properties under their roof these days. The show is set for a July 10th, 2018 debut and it will be bilingual but they’re not ready to announce the staff or cast for the production yet.

Plot Concept: Thanks to Washu, the universe has been thrown into chaos and it’s up to Tenchi to clean up the mess. But to do so he’s going undercover as a teacher—at an all-girl’s school! What awaits him beyond the attention of cute girls at this not-so-ordinary school? And will he be able to balance timelines and trouble that come with this latest adventure? Join the harem and the fun in this series of shorts!
