A new anime adaptation was announced last November for the manga Akkun to Kanojo and as it’s set for the spring season we have some final details. The show is confirmed as a short-form series that will debut on April 9th, 2018 on Tokyo MX. The cast was revealed recently and was noteworthy in that it differs from the Drama CD with:

  • Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Atsuhiro “Akkun” Kagari
  • Ayaka Suwa as Non “Nontan” Katagiri
  • Keisuke Ueda as Masago Matsuo
  • Arisa Kōri as Chiho Kagari

Shin Katagi is on board to direct based on the series composition by Yuka Yamada. Motohiro Taniguchi is working on the character designs with Yumeta Company handling the animation production.

The original work comes from Waka Kakitsubata who just had their seventh volume release. The property is serialized in Comic Gene magazine and has been running there since June 2013. The property got a drama CD in December 2016 but it’s unknown if the cast from that will reprise their roles.

Plot Concept: The story focuses on an extremely tsundere boy Akkun and his girlfriend Nontan. Even though Akkun says abusive things to Nontan and sometimes ignores her, he actually loves her to the point where he constantly stalks her. Nontan, who is unaware of this, is a kind-hearted girl and find the gap in interest cute.
