Originally airing back in 1999 for 101 episodes, TC Entertainment is digging into the archives again for another show to bring to Blu-ray with Sakura Momoko Gekijou: Coji-Coji. The series is getting done as two box sets that are two discs per set and fifty episodes per set. They’re scheduled for March 30th, 2018 and April 27th, 2018 priced at 22,000 yen each and now the first set has its cover art revealed, which is definitely stylish in a way that you wouldn’t expect. Extras for the first set include the pilot film, a new year variety show, and some promotional video.
Directed by Jun Takagi, it was animated by Nippon Animation and had Michishiro Yamada and Takeshi Asakura as the animation directors. The Japanese cast includes Taeko Kawata as Cojicoji, Aya Sugawara as Teruko, Etsuko Tokunaga as Tommy, Hiroki Takahashi as Ross, Hiroshi Masuoka as Geran, Jun Akiyama as Takan-kun, Kayo Aoyama as Jiroh’s Mother, Kazuhiko Nishimatsu as Sensei, Kimiko Furuyama as Piroro, Kumiko Watanabe as Harehare-kun, Miwa Matsumoto as Fuu, Nobuyuki Tanaka as Shougatsu-kun, Rena Yukie as Umebachi-hime, Susumu Chiba as Buhi-Buhi, TARAKO as Susie, Tomo Saeki as Tanuki, Tomoko Naka as Joanie, Tomoko Ohtsuka as Pero-chan, Urara Takano as Jiroh, and Yoko Ishida as Usako.
Plot Concept: The only thing that concerns Coji Coji is enjoying life and the wonders of nature. Coji Coji’s friends, on the other hand, are a varied bunch of colorful characters whose many idiosyncrasies have a tendency to create turmoil among one another. Coji Coji’s carefree ways and tendency to shirk responsibility are sometimes a source of frustration, but his childlike wisdom has a way of resolving all of their differences.
