We got the formal nod at the end of July 2017 that the manga Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii, aka Love is Hard for an Otaku, is getting an anime adaptation. With it set for the spring season in April, a new TV spot has surfaced for the show that gives us a taste of the opening theme song “Fiction” as performed by sumika. The series is directed by Yoshimasa Hiraike based on the series composition that he put together. Takahiro Yasuda is handling the character design with A-1 Pictures handling the animation.

The cast from the web promos for the manga will be reprising their roles for the show with:

  • Arisa Date as Narumi Momose
  • Kento Itou as Hirotaka Nifuji
  • Miyuki Sawashiro as Hanako Koyanagi
  • Tomokazu Sugita as Tarou Kabakura
  • Yuki Kaji as Naoya Nifuji

The manga comes from Fujita that began in 2014.

Plot Concept: After discovering that they work at the same company, a gaming-craze otaku and a fujoshi met for the first time since middle school. After some post-work drinking session, they begin dating, but will it be a perfect relationship for the two?
